Texas Hill Country Weddings: Who's Actually Filing, County by County

Search "destination weddings in Texas Hill Country" and you get venue listicles. What you do not get is the one number a vendor actually needs: how many couples in these counties have filed for a marriage license, and when.

We hold that number, county by county, from public county clerk filings. Here is exactly what it says today — and, just as importantly, exactly where we have nothing.

What the Hill Country filings look like right now

Every figure below is a live count from our database on September 2, 2026. The "newest filing" column is the honest part: a county clerk who has not sent us anything in three weeks shows a three-week-old date, and we print it rather than round it away.

Travis and Bexar are the volume. Between them they account for roughly 1,400 filings in the last thirty days. If you serve the Hill Country from Austin or San Antonio — and most photographers, florists, planners and DJs in this market do — those two counties are where the couples who booked you last year came from.

Kendall is the one to watch. Boerne is small, but 29 filings in thirty days against 194 held is a high recent share for a county that size. It is the Hill Country wedding corridor showing up in the record.

Gillespie is thin, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Fredericksburg is the single most photographed destination-wedding town in the region, and we hold twelve filings there going back to July 14, 2026. That is a coverage gap on our side, not a statement about Fredericksburg. We are working it.

Where we currently hold nothing

Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Kerr, Llano, Bandera and Guadalupe are not in our data today. Comal County — New Braunfels and the Gruene corridor — is the most significant of those absences for a wedding vendor, and we would rather say so on the page than let you find out by searching an empty county.

This is the difference between a lead list and a record. A list will happily show you a name for every county because a list is a sales document. A record shows you the counties it actually has.

What a vendor does with this

A marriage license filing is the earliest public signal that a wedding is happening. It typically lands weeks to months before the date, which puts it ahead of the moment a couple starts short-listing florists, photographers and second shooters — and well ahead of the moment they show up in a paid-ad audience.

Three ways vendors use the filings:

•Territory sizing. Before you spend on ads in a county, look at what that county actually produces. 889 filings in thirty days in Travis and 24 in Medina are two entirely different businesses.

•Seasonality. Compare the 30-day count against the 90-day count. Travis at 889 of 2,464 is running hot; Hays at 13 of 309 is not. Staff and spend accordingly.

•Direct outreach, done honestly. Filings carry names and counties. They do not carry addresses or phone numbers, and we do not sell a "verified newlywed mailing list," because the honest match rate on that is far lower than the people selling it will tell you.
